Congratulations and Have a Great Summer!
Another semester wrapped. Great job, everyone — you pulled off two finished productions that were quite nicely done, especially for the constraints of doing it all in one semester!
Enjoyed the class and hope you did as well. Keep an eye here; I’ll post the finished productions soon.
We’re also going to start an out-of-class production which I’d love for all of you to participate if you’re interested. We’ll make it fun and useful for your portfolio!

East Cost Game Conference (ECGC): April 25, 26
Several of us will be attending this, and you may find it interesting. Kevin Boggs and some other ACM and 220/320 people have been working out plans. Kevin has already posted this, but I’m posting it again for convenience. The conference should be a nice opportunity, especially for something fairly “local.” There will be program tracks related to game development for academia, art, business/”serious” games, design, programming, social, mobile, and using the Unreal Development Kit. If interested, talk to Kevin or me about it — we’re going to figure out carpooling and any room sharing, etc. to help keep it low cost.

NASA Perpetual Ocean Animated Visualization
Click the image to visit Nasa’s Perpetual Ocean Project page which has some very interesting and even beautiful animations of the earth’s ocean currents. Notice that you can see all of the major ocean currents, including our own nearby Gulf Stream. Strangely, this was apparently submitted to SIGGRAPH last year but not accepted?

Digital Art Capture and Preservation

The Factum Arte group does some very interesting work with 2D and 3D captures of art for preservation and other uses. Here’s a great video from one of their other projects:

HP Technology at DreamWorks
So this is a bit of a long commercial for HP, but there are a lot of neat glimpses of the DreamWorks studio in Glendale, CA (which is a really neat place) and some of its hardware, server rooms, etc.
